Privacy Policy — Marks Register

Marks Register is an independent tool built for Karnataka state government school teachers (KREIS/KSEAB syllabus, Classes 6–10) to record and manage student marks. This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Karnataka, KSEAB, KREIS, or any government department.

In short: this app works fully offline and does not send your data to any server. Everything you enter stays on your own device.

What data the app stores

To function, the app stores the following information only on your own phone, in your browser's local storage:

Teacher name and school details you enter during setup
Student names, roll numbers, and marks you enter for your classes
Student details you choose to add (e.g. SATS-style details, parent contact numbers) if you use that feature
App settings and preferences (grade boundaries, class/section configuration)

What the app does NOT do

It does not have a server or database — there is nowhere for your data to be sent
It does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage tracking
It does not access your contacts, camera, or location
It does not share your data with any third party

Sharing marks or class lists

The app lets you generate a WhatsApp message, SMS, or shareable link/file so you can send marks or class lists to another teacher, a class teacher, a principal, or a parent — at your own choice and initiative. This uses your phone's own WhatsApp/SMS/share apps; Marks Register itself does not transmit this data anywhere.

Backups

If you use the backup/export feature, a backup file is saved to your own device's storage or shared by you to an app of your choice (e.g. Google Drive, WhatsApp). This is entirely under your control.

Data deletion

You can clear all app data at any time from Settings, or by uninstalling the app or clearing site data in your browser. Since no data is stored anywhere except your device, this permanently removes it.

Children's data

The app is used by teachers to record student academic marks for legitimate educational record-keeping purposes, under the school's own authority. This data never leaves the teacher's device or is transmitted to the app developer or any third party.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
